Startup Funding Event has grown bigger than ever. We had the chance to meet many amazing startups throughout the journey of Startup Funding Event – Rotterdam 2019. While only the Top 3 startups were able to pitch on our big stage in De Doelen on 6th of June, we were blown away by all the other ideas of this sensational group. This led to the creation of this iconic list of our T20 of Startup Funding Event – Rotterdam 2019. Let us introduce you to the change makers of the 21st century.

OTFLOW – Otflow is a paperboard floor cover that you place in a cooled container (aka reefer) before you load the cargo. This floor cover is developed with the University of Wageningen and is proven to reduce the temperature difference during shipments of fruit by optimising the airflow.

Most fruit we consume is actually grown on the other side of the planet. When these products are being shipped the cooled containers often have difficulty keeping the temperatures stabile (especially in hot tropical zones around the equator).

Better temperatures in reefers means increased quality of fruit, which in turn means less product thrown away or sold at a low price.

Reefer transport increases every year and 40% of all transport claims are caused by too high temperatures during shipping. Other industries (besides fruit) that would benefit from optimised shipping temperatures are vegetables, cut flowers and flower bulbs.

MEDS²GO – Meds²Go brings back Freedom and Security to people who use temperature-sensitive medication (2 and 8°C). Our container can provide > 24 hours of travel time, has a display that shows the real-time temperature and is easy to use.

HEATBOX is a self-heating lunchbox that heats up your food regardless of your location or time (within 8 minutes!). Our mission is \’freedom of food\’, being the ability to eat wherever you are, whenever you want. We disrupt the food industry and the way we eat by enabling people to follow healthy diets, become independent of microwaves and save money (athletes, construction workers, truck drivers and many more).

LEGACY ROOT – LegacyRoot was founded to help overcome desertification, as was the dream of our late inventor Ibrahim. SolidWater is the water-managing granules that protect your plants from underwatering, let them grow faster and all-around add a whole new visual dimension to your gardening experience. VMC.AI – Mobility has become a basic need for people and society. Access to mobility and quality of life are closely correlated, which is why the mobility industry needs open standards and decentralised solutions.

AION SPORTS – Our Story is a story about sports, passion, science, and technology. A passion for sports. Backed up by science. And always in tune with the latest technology.

LIGHTWELL- The LightMotion Smart City pole has the future. Lightwell has an approved product, generates LightMotion sales on a small scale. A development strategy for LightMotion is being executed. The expectation is that EV charging and Telecom (5G) roll out will boost LightMotion Developments and Sales. Together with the LED transition in Lighting this will be drive the business. this will remain in the coming years: the LED transition is still in full swing.

SECUMAIL – We deliver secure and GDPR compliant email for all kinds of companies. Unlike our competitors, our solution is without all the hassle. It runs in the backend and is invisible. No plugins, no certificates or end user software required.

Our business model is based on a monthly subscription fee per mailbox. Companies do not need to switch their email environment, nor do they need to install local software.

The integration with Secumail is easy -even for large corporates- and is usually up and running within 1 day. ”

We innovate the traditional model of going to your beauty appointment by bringing this experience to your home. Our technology is easy and time efficient, while our on-demand beauty services will have you feeling and looking amazing, all within your time.

ELINESPREEKT – ElineSpreekt is the simplest Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) App in the world. ElineSpreekt helps people who can not talk because of for example autism, ALS or stroke, to communicate easily through image & text communication.

GOCASE – We fulfil the need of the market by bridging the gap of having something as personal as the smartphone is not being used as an accessory of self expression.

HOLLER.LIVE – Holler.live is a B2B2C subscription based SaaS company. We work with institutions and companies encompassing the whole spectrum. Our tool brings value to any organisation willing to communicate more efficiently and get to know their customer base ever better.

ROOF GLOBAL – We are recycling plastic waste in a high volume whith are not recyclable currently.

We are reducing CO2 by recycling (burn of plastic emits CO2).

We gain not only ecological but also economical effect as construction material out of recycled plastic will substitute traditional construction materials due to superior quality and comparable price.

LOLO’S – We believe kids deserve good food! We are unique because we co-create with a kids board of advisors. For every purchased box of Lolo\’s we give a nutricious meal to a hungry child. Together we can make impact and create a better world for our children (in developing but also in underdeveloping countries).

RAVEN COLLECTIVE – Fashion is the 2nd most polluting industry worldwide. Raven collective is an online marketplace for premium womenswear offering environmentally friendly, ethical and fair alternatives – without compromising on style! 2018 Google search results for \’sustainable fashion\’ increased by 47% and the market value for online premium sustainable womenswear in Europe will quadruple to 77M euros by 2023.

VIA ELLA – We believe that traveling is the way to stay curious as you age. Yet, in a world with an overwhelming number of travel options, finding a trip that perfectly suits your specific needs can be challenging. We are here to help babyboomer travelers to navigate the online jungle of travel organizations, experts and booking websites directly to the bespoke trip that fits their needs and set a new standard in the travel industry. Customers just tell us what they are looking for through a smart online intake, we make sure the best matching tour operator delivers a yessable proposal. Via Ella provides qualified leads for tour operators and digitally facilitates the booking process between tour operator and customer. We receive a commission per booked trip and a leadfee per travel request – payable by the tour operator. For customers, the price remains the same.

OUTLANDER MATERIALS – We are turning beer brewing waste into UnPlastic, a transparent, compostable, and totally plastic-free alternative to single use plastic foils. We need packaging, but we don’t need that packaging to last forever nor breakdown into microplastics that harm our health and the environment. Outlander can use beer to help change the world, and we can do it, one UnPlastic wrapper at a time.

AMBERSCRIPT – We build the best speech to text engines in European languages, which we offer to deaf and hard hearing to automatically subtitle video or in our online editor which enable our clients to quickly produce a 100% transcripts of interviews, meetings and other audio.

HENK THE HERO – We want to bring the first affordable robot to the market which can help children (mainly with autism) train their social skillset.

SUPERSOLA – Solar energy for everyone – start with 1 panel, bring when you move – ideal for rental houses.
